iPod Touch 4G Design Review
The device is wafer thin and will easily fit inside your pocket, handbag, etc. The volume buttons and On/Off switch are both more reserved than on the previous models so it may take some getting used to. There’s a small speaker, headphone jack, and cable connector the bottom, and a pinhole microphone and main camera on the back. The front-facing camera is notable as well, but is of lower quality than the main camera on the back. The only problem I’ve had with the design is that the back of the device is very susceptible to getting scratched and it will likely be so even after just a few days of using it.
Interface Review
Great and user-friendly as always. The display is great and looks amazing, especially for the first time, and it really is difficult to distinguish individual pixels on the screen. However, it does look a bit contrasted when holding the device at a curved angle, which isn’t a deal-breaker but might bother some people.
Face time Review
Face Time allows you to make video chats with other iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 4G users. You must be connected to WiFi to make these video chats. The Face Time icon is presented prominently on the home screen of the iPod Touch.It is very cool and works surprisingly well. The problem is finding other users on the compatible device (right now only iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th generation) plus them being on WiFi at the same time.Over time, the feature will be more useful as more members of your family and friends have a compatible device. However, you simply don’t always want to have a video chat with people either. Sometimes voice or even text is enough. Therefore, the front camera is not a total bust. It can be used to try out Face Time, which some users will probably find useful as least on occasion.
Retina display Review
When you switch the iPod touch on, the first thing you notice is the amazing Retina display.With a resolution of 960×640 pixels, it packs in 326 pixels per inch, which is four times as many as the screen in the iPod touch third generation model.The retina display is amazing! Like reading from a glossy magazineRetina Display is fantastic if you compare this version Touch to the previous generation.The Retina Display on the iPhone 4g does seem to be a bit better.The Display is revolutionary. Being able to read that tiny text is just amazing. Who would have thought that they could, or would, manufacture a screen that is so detailed! Photos now look like real photos! Games look wonderful and surfing is greatly enhanced by the new display. Movies look better too.
iPod Touch 4G Camera Review
IT’S A MEDIA PLAYING DEVICE, NOT A PROFESSIONAL CAMERA!
The back camera is not that bad in spite of the 0.7 MP resolutions. The rear camera on the iPod Touch can take HD video, because HD video is actually lower resolution than still digital cameras. The quality of the HD video it takes will need to be judged by the user. The camera’s optics are simply not the same as used in the iPhone 4 due to the thinness of the iPod Touch. Therefore, camera quality is significantly lower compared to iPhone 4.
However, you can take a video and edit it on your iPod Touch. It probably won’t look as good as someone who takes a video on an iPhone 4 though.Don’t knock it just because of the pixel count; it’s a pretty good camera. And for taking pics as a record of a fun moment that you can then upload directly to Facebook, I love it. That functionality is a big step up from the old iPod Touch, so I’m OK with the low resolution; it’s a lot better than no camera at all. And I’ve managed to get it to read barcodes with apps like the AT&T code scanner. Also, Apple’s HDR is not available but I think there are 3rd party apps that will do that.

Here on the 4G there is a new spot on the bottom left for the speaker and it has risen in clarity. The speaker is nicer than the old iPod Touch.Music is very listenable and clear, however nothing replaces a good set of Earbuds, but when you’re in a jam, you won’t be gritting your teeth with this speaker.
Battery Review
As with all such devices, exact battery life depends on what you’re doing with the device, iPod touch 4G has longer battery life by 33% – it now lasts for 40 hours for listening to music and 7 hours for playing videos.I notice that the battery seemed to drain fast when having wifi on.
